The Internet offers many opportunities to earn money such as "get paid to surf", "paid to read e-mail", "online surveys", "affiliate programs and marketing", and other similar home based businesses. 

However, some of them, such as getting paid to surf, are not worth the labor you put in.  Business opportunities like paid surfing require you to surf certain web sites and you get paid for doing so.

Paid surfing requires you to surf certain special web sites for a predetermined amount of time.  You receive returns in terms of cents.  Any business opportunity that needs you to pay cash beforehand should signify a sign of danger.  You need no pay for working.

Similarly, paid to read e-mails also falls in the category of getting "paid to surf".  Normally these web sites offer meager sums like 1/10 of a cent to 5 cents per e-mail. You therefore have to read an enormous amount of e-mails before you can earn anything substantial. 

Among these there are certain paid surfing sites which claim to pay anywhere from $1 to an unimaginable $500 just for reading an e-mail.  If you haven't guessed, this is obviously a scam and it is best to stay away from them. 

Online surveys are yet another form of paid surfing. You are instructed to conduct a survey on stipulated conditions and you could earn points on such surveys. Some sites allow you to convert your points to cash.

Almost all of the surveys sites I have ever tried or heard of turned out to be total scams... and those that are not generally cannot pay enough to make a decent side income.

From my personal experience these paid surfing programs are just a big waste of time.  You simply cannot make a substantial amount of money doing this.  Not to mention that the chances of getting scammed are extremely high!

If you do decide not to follow my advice and want to test out one of these programs remember, do not trust just any paid surfing opportunity.  Do your research.

Some of the paid surfing opportunities that do not pay well or rather do not pay at all include chain letters, envelope stuffing, typing, medical billing, making crafts, and the like.
