Optionetics is a seminar run by investor George Fontanills which promises to lower your risk when trading in the options market. You will often find free seminars in or around your area that you can attend to learn more about Optionetics. I attended one of these in 2005 and it was basically what I expected. The presenter/salesman was top-notch and performed his job spectacularly, which was basically to get everyone in the room excited about attending the paid seminar and changing their lives through options trading. Personally I was turned off by the presentation mainly because it never offered specifics on the kind of returns people who use Optionetics are making. I was only told that all the reps were very 'successful' and that simply didn't do it for me. They also tried to convince me of how low risk options trading can be when I know for a fact that the opposite is true. The Optionetics paid seminar is a two day event with a price tag of $2995, and you're allowed to re-attend another seminar whenever you want. A friend of my mine who attended one of these told me that while the information was mostly valuable and informative, it was also unorganized, confusing and overwhelming at times. Their opinion was also that the Optionetics seminar is for people who have at least a few years experience in trading equity stocks. You will also be required to buy additional software to actually perform the things you were taught during the seminars, which is not maid clear prior to joining. Optionetics offer a money-back guarantee as long as you perform 36 trades after attending the seminar. The catch with this is that the fine print says that according to Optionetics a 'trade' is when you buy and sell and option instead of normally being just buying or selling an option. This may not seem like a big deal at first but it really is, especially when you are unaware of it. I have also received word that George Fontanills is presently being sued by FIMAT USA in the New York Federal Court for 6 Million for not complying with margin calls, which may be verified if you call the NY Federal Court. I guess my main problem with Optionetics is that they are irresponsible in trying to convince you of how easy trading options and never even mentioning the risks. Options trading is one of the most risky types of investing there is and Optionetics will not change that. The fact that less than 1 in 10 traders end up being successful at it is disconcerting to say the least. I would advise anyone to be very cautious and think twice before buying in. Best Wishes,
