Dale Carnegie was born in Maryville, Missouri in 1888. His parents were poor farmers. He managed to succeeded in completing his college education at Warrensburg, Missouri. Dale began in selling correspondence courses.

After he finished college he began selling correspondence courses and later soap and bath products.Dale was a very flourishing sales person. In 1936 he wrote a book, "How to win friends and influence people" which was well known as a self-help book. Many managers do not have the proficiency in dealing with the people as they join firms immediately after college and lack interpersonal skills. These skills can't be learned from books.

Now a days, the human touch or the act of reaching out to people is being over looked and we rather learn working on computer or any similar techniques.

Another book written by Dale, "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" helps you to overcome fears and become confident. It is indeed a very practical and stimulating handbook. Dale Carnegie's course proves to be very beneficial for first time managers and sales persons. This program is conducted by Franchised trainers.

The course consist of twelve sessions and each session last for about three hours. In the course the attendees are supposed to give short presentations about their own personal experience rather than a researched topic. These presentations help you in expressing your thoughts and help you overcome any speaking limitations that you may have.

Dale Carnegie's course also emphasizes on conversational techniques, importance of learning names, problem resolution, memory techniques, and small group skills. Dale always believed that a change in our reaction to people can change other people's conduct.

This course became popular and many participated in the course. There were few condemnations that more time was spent on listening to others presentation and some techniques appear manipulative which go against Dale's emphasis on taking interest in other people. On Nov 1, 1955 Dale Carnegie died in Forest Hills, New York.

The only drawback in Dale Carnegie's program is how do you exactly succeed, mere desire is not sufficient but a solid process has to be identified to attain success.
