John Beck is not different from any of the other jokers who have informercials on tv early in the a.m. They take a concept that is true, embellish it and try to sell it to you. With a little legwork, you can find out this info yourself for free. When I was a little girl, we moved to the south. My mother purchased a house that someone didnt pay their taxes on (backtaxes). She paid $500 for it. It was not dilapidated but in perfect condition. There are many houses you can buy like this and they are not all in bad shape or in depressed areas. Granted, it may not be for $500, but it would not be for $300,000. Each state is different; check with that state or the county's tax assessor office. They can give you all the info you need or should be able to at least tell where to get the information. I don't think it's a good idea right now (in this depressed housing market) to get involved in buying up these houses for profit. But if you need a home and have the time to do the legwork, I would definately at least check out buying a home foreclosed by the state for backtaxes. |
