Zig is a top motivator |

Realist rated Zig a 3 because of "realism." Well Zig never said just passion and PMA were the keys to success. If you set a goal of going to Harvard without money, a HS Diploma, etc., you've failed to plan...Zig does include planning as a key to success. Zigs methods include setting the goal, breaking it down into smaller objectives, and breaking those objectives down into the pieces and steps needed to achieve the goal. If you really follow the program, your objective of going to Harvard with the deficits Realistic used would have included getting that HS education, finding out what Harvard was looking for and then positioning him or herself as offering those objectives. It might take years to make it happen, but it could happen if the goals was worthwhile enough to make the plan and stick to it. Remember the movie "Rudy?" A true story, this was a kid without the size, background or ability to play for Notre Dame, but he did it despite those odds by setting the goal, putting himself in a place where he had the opportunity, working hard, obtaining the experience, inspiring others with his desire, and making it happen. Most people don't do what it takes, so "Realism" seems to really be about quitting when the odds are long.
Zig is a story teller. He uses his stories to motivate and inspire. His programs don't offer you the specifics, but they do tell you what you need to do to find the specific path you need to follow to get what you want. Zig is also a salesman, and since 1970, he has done a terrific job of selling himself and making a living speaking and writing. Thats a lot easier and more lucrative than selling pots and pans, one of his earlier gigs.
Don't sell yourself short and don't suggest that anyone gives up their dream. There may be some impossible dreams, but most of the time the dreams are impossible because we didn't have the desire and weren't willing to invest the effort and time into making the dream come true. Most of the world's successful people weren't the smartest people or the most blessed, they are driven people with that fire in the gut willingness and singlemindedness needed to succeed and follow their path to success. I've heard a statistic that the average CEO was an average student. That statistic tells you a lot. They are also, on average, people who fall into the category of "serving others" as their primary character type in the Myers-Briggs hierarchy. Neither of these are intuitively obvious, at least to me.
If you haven't heard or read Zig, and you need inspiration, read his books and get energized. Then follow your personal dreams and make them happen.
