If your profession is not in finance or if you have not worked for a major brokerage house or are not a CFA, FA, or have not been trained by one. Stay the hell out of the stock market and SURELY stay away from the FX market and Derivatives (options, futures, swaptions, etc).
Don't convince yourself b/c you're "smart" you know what you're doing. You don't...I have been working for the TOP of the TOP hedge funds and banks for the last 6 years (fresh our of college) and I STILL know nowhere near enough to go out on my own. So for joe schmo...what frickin' CHANCE do you have trading derivatives and FX? Odds are you know nothing about gamma, vega, theta, rho and delta. You don't know how to 'scalp', when to 'haircut' and how to leverage margin to your advantage.
IF you must invest, get into solid companies that have been around a long time and have HUGE market caps (over 100 billion USD). Or mutual funds, that's easy for everyone. Don't play games w/your money after you have worked so hard to save it... |
