I don't agree with Wendy's including Ken Robert's as a Scam Guru. However, I can understand how he got lumped into that crowd. Ken's materials will teach you the basics of trading commodities. However, as Ken has always said, do not trade real money until you have succssfully paper traded. Most of those that are upset with Ken lost money trading before they successfully paper traded for an extended period or at all.
The one area I would fault Ken is he tends to undersell the lenght of time one should paper trade by suggesting 3 months practice prior to entering real trades. For the novice, 3 months is not enough. I would recommend 6-12 months paper trading minimum for everyone. That's minimum! 12-24 months paper trading is what I would recommend for most (80% of all people). That means every day checking your charts, learning how a given market behaves, practicing entry and exit strategies, etc., for two years! I suspect Ken's suggestion of 3 months successful paper trading helped sell his materials because most would not commit for two years of practice.
For the serious and committed student Ken is not a scam guru. He sells an excellent introduction to commodities basisc. (By the way I found our Ken sold his business in 2006 and moved to Alabama. US Chart Company, which Ken founded still thrives under different management in Grants Pass Oregon). |
