Pharming is a technique used by hackers to redirect website traffic to another bogus websites in order to obtain personal credentials of a person. Pharming is often used with phishing as "Pharming phishing”.

In Pharming hackers will write malicious code to obtain a domain name for a website from DNS (Domain Name Server) and redirect the web traffic from that website to other bogus website.

DNS servers maintain a table which resolves domain name to their real address (IP address) often called as "signposts” of the internet.

The fake or bogus website will look exactly as the real site which captures all personal information from the user.

For example if you try to login to your bank account you will be redirected to a bogus site. They will capture all your account information, password, credit card number etc. and use them on real site to transfer your money.

It is very hard to protect yourself from pharming as you will not come to know that somebody is actually conning you.
